Extending Christian compassion and concern

We offer Christian care in the form of visits, prayer, meals, and health ministries to those who are in need of support and encouragement. If you are in need of this ministry, please let us know. We are here for you!

St. John’s Caring Ministries

  • BeFriender Ministry

For those on a difficult journey who need a caring companion to listen, empathize, and be a reminder of a caring faith community, BeFrienders provide care through a listening presence.

  • Caregivers

Caregiver team members offer expressions of Christian concern through cards, notes, calls, and prayers.

  • Grief Ministries

GriefShare is a video-based class/small group led by a facilitator and/or deacon or pastor for those who have lost a loved one. The 13-session series meets once or twice per year. Learn more about GriefShare.

Journey through Grief materials are a set of four short books that are sent to those who are grieving over the first year after a loved one has died.

  • Prayer Ministry

We practice prayer as a conversation with God. It is the foundation of all we do as individuals and as a congregation. St. John’s Prayer Chain and weekly prayer group are dedicated to prayer and will treat prayer requests with confidentiality and pray faithfully. To be part of a prayer group, contact Gudrun.

  • Meal Ministry

Meals are provided for those who have been ill, hospitalized, or recovering; for families who have welcomed a new baby, adopted, or are fostering a child; for families and friends who wish to gather to express their support and sympathies following a funeral or memorial service.

  • DivorceCare

Divorce is often a difficult time. Group support can be a way to give and receive help during this time.

  • The Sanctuary Course

How can a church become a place where individuals living with mental health challenges feel safe and supported? Developed in consultation with mental health professionals, theologians, and people with lived experience, this eight-session study guide explores key mental health topics and examines meaningful ways to offer companionship, support recovery, and promote wellbeing.
