Homeless Night
Homeless Night
Each year St. John’s Senior High do a Homeless Night as an activity to become more aware of the plight of the homeless and as a fundraiser to raise money for the local Habitat for Humanity.
This year on Saturday, May 14th, 28 high school teens and four adults braved a steady & cold rain to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless.
These senior high youth built ramshackle cardboard structures and spent the night in prayer and fellowship as they tried to stay warm and dry. They talked about how much more they understand how difficult it is for those living on the streets day to day. They prayed and sang and huddled together for warmth.
The next morning they dragged a few of the shacks to the entrances of the Church asking the faithful of St. John’s to donate for the local Habitat for Humanity. The generosity was amazing! Over $1500 was collected for Habitat.
The teens want to THANK everyone who gave so generously. God bless you and may God bless and protect the homeless.
