The POLAR PLUNGE 2012 is Saturday, February 25th at 10:00 at Miller Park Pavilion. We actually start plunging at noon in the Miller Park Lake. Join the FROZEN CHAOS team by going to this website – http://www.firstgiving.com/soilltorchrun/2012-polar-plunge-bloomington – and clicking on REGISTER – register your name for your fundraising page – then find FROZEN CHAOS as the team you are joining at the end. Remember – you must pay or raise $75 to participate in the Polar Plunge!
Senior High SKI TRIP The annual SKI TRIP is Saturday/Sunday February 18/19! We are going to Sundown Ski Resort in Dubuque, Iowa. The total cost is $99 which includes the transportation, hotel room, and all fees for skiing/snowboarding. Space is limited on the bus so get your registration form in as soon as possible. WORK CAMP 2012! The site for Work Camp 2012 is Birmingham, Alabama on the week of July 7-14! We will take 55 youth and 12 adults. ADULTS pay NO DEPOSIT for their participation. More information is on the Work Camp page – the brochure to sign up is here: Work Camp Brochure 2012
Special Parent/Youth Meeting about the ELCA Youth Gathering this Summer in New Orleans All senior high youth and parents interested in learning more about this summer’s ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans are invited to an information meeting on Thursday, January 12th, at 7 PM. At this meeting we will learn about how this Youth Gathering is different than other Mission offerings – talk about the fees – transportation – and finally, make plans for fundraising. All interested youth AND THEIR PARENTS are asked to attend!

St. John’s Lutheran Church encourages our senior high youth to attend Lutheran Colleges. There is help with tuition through a Thrivent Financial Scholarship for Lutheran Schools. Please apply here for the form to fill out: Scholarship Request Form. Return this to Steve or to the St. John’s Business office ASAP.

Important News!
St. John’s Senior High is offering a new mission trip for next summer! The Nazareth Farm High School Week is now open for registration! The week is June26 – July 2, 2011. This is a very unique and amazing week of service in the mountains of West Virginia! We are taking SIX Senior High youth along with two adults. The Rite of Confirmation was held Sunday, October 31 at 11:45 AM in the Sanctuary of the Church. Forty 9th graders were confirmed in a beautiful worship service. Pastor Wells gave the sermon and encouraged the teens to continue their faith journey. Group photos done by Kirk Fagerland are NOW AVAILABLE at the Church office or at Steve’s office! Regular Programming!
- Wednesday Nights:Â CHAOS is 6:45 to 8:30 PM at the Fellowship Hall. CHAOS is our weekly ministry program with discussions on faith, activities, videos, music and prayer.
- Sunday Mornings:Â Extreme Faith Bible Study Sundays from 9:15 to 10:15 in the CHAPEL. This is a fun group who break open God’s word in new and interesting ways.Extreme Faith Bible Study starts up again in the new Youth Room on Sunday, Sept. 11:- 9:15 to 10:15
- 2nd Sunday of Every Month is the LIGHT Fellowship & Worship from 6-7 PM. LIGHT fellowship is in the Senior High Youth Room and is a bible study with a pastor and pizza dinner. LIGHT Worship is a contemporary worship service in the Parish Life Center for the young at heart and led by teens.
CHAOS – Claiming Him As Our Savior is our Wednesday Night Senior High Ministry program. We meet from 6:45 to 8:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the Church during the school year. A typical night of CHAOS will include 30 – 40 teens gathering for social time until 7 PM and then engaging in activities, illustrations, videos and music about typical faith and teen topics. During the summer we have our Summer CHAOS which meets at Underwood Park from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

EXTREME FAITH Bible Study – meets on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15 AM in the Youth Room at the Church. This Bible study includes current biblical video series and discussions led by adult leaders. This bible study includes a video, music and discussions on various teen topics seen through the lens of God’s Good News. Get more information on Extreme Faith Bible Study.
LIGHT Fellowship & Worship – Living In God’s House Together - is a YOUTH Fellowship Night and Worship service on the second Sunday of the month at 6 PM in the Parish Life Center.
The LIGHT FELLOWSHIP is in the Senior High Youth Room which features a dinner and Bible discussion with one of the pastors. Here the youth dig deep into a scripture story and have open and honest discussion on this story with one of our pastors. We also have pizza and refreshments.
LIGHT WORSHIP happens a couple of times a semester in the Parish Life Center. This service is high energy especially for all Youth and their families with Christian praise songs, youth directed sermon, and lots of interesting ways in which to praise God our loving Father. This service highlights high school youth, junior high, college and young adults in the various ministries. It is intended to be for the whole congregation with a special emphasis on the Youth and their style of Praise. Get more information on LIGHT.

I am a 21 year old junior in college and have just recently started attending worship again on Sundays regularly. I was wondering if any of the senior high activities such as mission trips, work camps,LIGHT worship, etc. would be available for me to start getting involved in or if there is something else more fitting for my age group?
