List of Caring Groups

Providing support for people with a specific need.

CARING FOR the WORLD and EACH OTHER

BeFrienders are trained lay volunteers who extend the care of the St. John’s faith community. Who are the people who need a BeFriender? Maybe it is an elderly person who is homebound or in a nursing home. Maybe it is a single parent struggling with raising children or a person living with a chronic illness. Perhaps it is an unemployed head of household weary from job hunting or a new mom adjusting to caring for a baby. BeFrienders provide pastoral care for people in all kinds of difficult or transitional situations. Contact Gudrun Dunt, gudrun@stjohnsbloomington.org, (309) 827-6121 ext. 214.

Caregivers gather for the purpose of sharing expressions of Christian concern through cards, notes, and prayers sent to members. They meet at 4 PM the first and third Wednesday of the month in the Conference Room (421). Contact Gudrun Dunt, gudrun@stjohnsbloomington.org, (309) 827-6121 ext. 214.

Telecare is St. John’s telephone ministry that provides continuous support to all member families by providing meaningful contact with each congregational household in a ten-month period. Calls are made on behalf of the pastoral staff to become aware of any life changes occurring in the life of a St. John’s member. Callers will not ask for time or money but will simply let you know they care about you, ask how things are going or if you have prayer concerns to be passed on to St. John’s pastors and office staff. They meet at 6 PM the second Tuesday of the month in various rooms. Contact Christine Goodman, cgfoxzgrams3@gmail.com, (309) 662-1007.
