(Pr. Elyse has provided this awesome resource for families)

It’s wintertime.  The days are short, and the nights are long.  Perhaps more than any other time of year, we take our spot on the couch and fire up the DVDs.  There are countless movies available, and there are also some great online resources to help you discern what to watch from a faith perspective.  Whether you’re a parent looking to guide your child’s choices or whether you’re looking for movies with specific themes, you can benefit from these excellent websites.

The Lutheran Magazine
has long published reviews of music, books, and movies by Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat.  You can access years of reviews at their website:  www.spiritualityandpractice.com <http://www.spiritualityandpractice.com/> .

The Lutheran
also recommends www.hollywoodjesus.com <http://www.hollywoodjesus.com/> for its reviews and discussion guides for a wide variety of films.

The ELCA Youth Ministry website maintains a very good collection of movie reviews, especially designed for youth, entitled “Reel World.”
Check it out at http://www.elca.org/youth/reelworld/index.html <http://www.elca.org/youth/reelworld/index.html> .

Another good website is www.pluggedinonline.com
<http://www.pluggedinonline.com/> .  This website is especially designed for people seeking detailed information on movie content—from language to violence to sexual situations—and it is always very current.
