Thrive Guides meet this Wednesday, September 26 at 6:30pm for our (almost) monthly Guide Huddle. Huddles continue to be a great way to connect with co-Guides, other Guides, learn new things and share your knowledge and wisdom with others. Have fun too! We meet under the Sanctuary so don’t be late and we can’t wait to see you there!
This Sunday may very well be your last chance to get in on a great time at the Hayrack Ride. Click on over to the Special Events page or Downloads page and get the form and turn it into Rob by Sunday.
We’ll have a blast!
The 30+ group spent the hour viewing music videos from several Christian artists like: John Rueben, Relient K, Kutless and Casting Crowns. We expected to be cut short due to our annual fire drill but… the alarm didn’t sound until after the hour was up! Come join us next Sunday as we view and discuss a short video on “Home Hurts.” Take a look at some pictures that were taken before Genesis started on Sunday.
Last night our 6th grade boys groups got together for some fun team building challenges. The groups did a great job working together to complete various crazy tasks like: Yurt Circle, Human Knot and the Corporate Maze.
Take a look at Thrive last night and what the 6th grade boys did:
We had a great first night of DinnerTime last night (Wed., September 12) with our theme: Ready, Set, Go! Sloppy Joes, corn, applesauce, chips and AWESOME cookies! Of course we enjoyed getting to know the people at our tables and sharing some funny (some not so funny) riddles at the end of DinnerTime.
Enjoy some pictures from the meal:
Genesis started out the new school year today with a great time of learning, sharing, and getting to know each other. 35 youth and 4 adults gathered in Room 200 for a great time of looking at faith, trusting God and others, and an awesome time of prayer at the end. The room saw some new improvements here and there and we welcome all 6-8th graders each Sunday. Don’t miss out, see you next Sunday!!!
Thrive kicked off its first Learning Event yesterday with great energy and enthusiasm. The group focused on family life and God’s plan for families to be healthy, growing and thriving. Pastor Knight joined us and shared with us Martin Luther’s teachings about Jesus and that we are redeemed by the body and blood of Christ. Forgiveness is the key thing and that means if God can forgive us then we need to work on forgiveness in our families as well. Our theme through November is “How to Annoy Your Family,” which is a series from Doug Fields of Saddleback Church in California. Check out the pictures below!
Pastor Priscilla Bell who has been with us at St. John’s for many years and has been a terrific part of our Thrive program is preparing for a move – A big one! Pastor is heading back to Montana with her husband sometime this fall. Here is the scoop from her:
“During our trip to Montana we found and are purchasing a home in Montana where we have family. I will be leaving the staff sometime this fall hopefully before the snow flies. I have come to consider you all as friends and co workers in the Gospel of Christ so this move carries with it a lot of love and tears as well as excitement for the new beginning. I see working here one of the highlights of my life and am so grateful the Lord afforded me the opportunity. You all will remain as a treasure my soul will carry.” -Pastor Priscilla Bell
