What is Stewardship Ministry?
- Engaging every member in ministry (Our Core Value #2)
- helping individuals to discern and use their time, abilities and talents to build up the “body of Christ.”
- Implementing an annual pledge drive to financially support the ministries of St. John
- Providing support and encouragement for individuals to grow in their financial giving and in their involvement in the ministry of the congregation
- Encouraging the use of the Biblical model of tithing (10% of income for the work of ministry) as members determine what they will give
- Helping congregational members to include the ministries of St. John’s in their own will or estate plans or through special giving opportunities.
Associated Committees and Organizations:
- St. John’s Charitable Trust – This committee encourages congregational members to consider the ministries of St. John’s in their estate plans and also distributes money to assist in special non-budgeted congregational projects, scholarships for students attending Lutheran colleges and seminaries, mission and outreach ministries, and social service ministries beyond the congregation.
