Member Care - St. John’s members are caring, committed people who are willing to answer Jesus’ command to bear each other’s burdens. We care for each other in many ways (see below). If you feel led to participate in any of these ministry opportunities, note the contact information or call the church office. If you have a personal need that might be met by one of these ministries, or know someone who might benefit, please call the church office.

  • Blood Pressure Screenings are offered the first Sunday of the month on the Balcony, and the fourth Sunday of the month at the Saturday Evening Service.
  • Caregivers meet twice monthly to send notes and cards to persons celebrating a milestone or in need of encouragement.
  • Faith in Action, a national organization with a chapter in Bloomington/Normal, is designed to provide friendly visits or light transportation to those 55 and older who need some additional support or assistance in order to remain independent.
  • Home Communion volunteers take Holy Communion to members unable to attend regular worship services.
  • Meals for Moms is a group of volunteers who prepare and deliver a hot meal to families with new babies.
  • Parish Nurses are trained RNs who can provide assistance to members as health educators, health counselors, volunteer trainers and support group organizers. They help keep people spiritually and physically healthy through preventive medicine and education.
  • Telecare is a telephone ministry designed to contact each St. John’s household by telephone annually to share information, answer questions and connect.
  • Van Service provides transportation for the 10:15am Sunday service for members otherwise unable to attend.
