Senior Pastor Call Committee Updates

August 13
The call committee will be made up of the following St. John’s members: Dean Brown, Sue Frank, Julie Holliday, John Hurliman, Todd Peterson, Alicia Whitworth, and Congregation President Chris Magnuson. They will have their first meeting at the end of August.

August 27
The Ministry Site Profile document is being completed with input from the congregation through surveys, staff, and council members. The document should be complete and sent to the Synod office in early September.

September 10
The Call Committee met with Synod staff on August 31 to discuss the call process. The committee has another meeting scheduled for September 11. Please pray for God’s guidance in matching a Senior Pastor to our congregation. Names of potential candidates can be submitted through the call committee to the Synod staff for consideration. Please contact a call committee member if you have a name of a potential Pastor to recommend for consideration.  

September 17

September 22
The St. John’s Council has submited the Ministry Site Profile (MSP) to the Synod office. This document assists potential pastors in discerning if they are interested in being considered for call as Senior Pastor at St. John’s. Congregation input from about 120 surveys completed by members this summer were incorporated in the MSP. For example, the following Pastoral Priorities were identified (top five):

  1. Preaching
  2. Worship
  3. Administration
  4. Counseling
  5. Evangelism

When surveyed about the style of leadership which is sought, St. John’s members indicated a desire for a Leader Among Leaders: To serve with lay leadership as one of the “core” leaders in the congregation.
